2019 New Year's Pilgrimage to Hozanji (Ikoma, Nara, Japan)

One of my favorite places in Japan... for the journey on the the winding mountain roads, for the natural setting, for the unlimited photo ops, for the spirituality, for the tako yaki and amazake, for the visual anthropology of Japan. Once again the New Year gives me the opportunity to visit Hozanji. Check out this year's pilgrimage photos and scroll down to the links to see previous VAOJ coverage.
