Beauty in Contemporary Japan: Fall 2010 Body/Comm Poster Workshop

Beauty entails paying special attention to specific problem areas.
Beauty expressed in advertisements entails computer generated imagery.
Beauty entails sexy poses inspired by animals.
Body/Comm students working on their posters.
Once again Body/Comm students earnestly researched and created posters about ideal body image and beauty in Japan. Commons themes included working on and fixing specific problem areas through make-up, surgery, enhancement products and weight loss devices and the impossibly of a living ideal body. Kinda depressing this semester... Anyway here are their posters:

Fall 2010 Globalization Kobe Fieldtrip

Students from the Japan and Globalization class and special guests recently went on a fieldtrip to Kobe in search of globalization. And globalization they found: belly dancers in Kitano (see future separate post), Turkish ice cream in Nankin Machi and Halloween treats in Harbor area. Congratulations to Sam and Francesco for winning the Kobe Globalization Photo Contest - their respective photos appear below.

Click here for posts about previous Globalization fieldtrips to Kobe.

Photo by Francesco: Che Guevara photo. (He was born in Argentina, protagonist in the Cuban people revolution, then Congo, Bolivia. Now on cigarettes package with Chinese kanji, in the Chinatown of Kobe Japan) That is Globalization!

Here are some shots from me:

Many thanks to all fieldtrip participants. And stay tuned for the belly dancer pictures and photos of the Kobe night scene. And now the fun blogging procrastination must end and midterms must be graded... 頑張ります!
